Sutherland Lodge Surgery hosted a grand reopening on 15th August 2025. We invited patients, team members from our local nursing home, PPG group members and local stakeholders to attend.
Our team attended and made sure to speak with our guests to talk about the great work they are doing and the difference the refurb made to the team and the patients we serve.
We were lucky enough to receive some great feedback from members of our PPG group on the day on how to become more dementia friendly, which we then used to provide ‘You said, We did’ feedback.
At the Grand Reopening at Sutherland Lodge we heard from Professor Nick Harding, Chief Medical Officer and Dr Munshi, Regional Medical Director.
Professor Nick Harding officially reopened the surgery with a ribbon cutting and presented the team with a lovely new plague.
Dr Munshi dedicated part of his speech to Yvonne Wright, the previous practice manager that sadly passed away last year. Yvonne was the driving force behind the refurbishment, and we wouldn’t have such an incredible practice today without her. The team members that worked with Yvonne remember her fondly and expressed how wonderful it was to honour her on this day.
After the speeches, members of the team held tours and showed our guests around the new and improved facilities at Sutherland Lodge Surgery. It was a wonderful opportunity to show our patients the surgery that we are so proud of.
Joanne Quinn, Practice Manager, spoke with the nursing home supported by Sutherland Lodge and was delighted to hear how supported the staff feel, especially by the clinical lead, Dr Chowdhury.
Finally, we got the opportunity to hear from the patients. We heard wonderful feedback about the team and particularly about the way the team worked through the refurb and supported the patients throughout. One patient talked about how seamless they have found the support at Sutherland Lodge and that they have been a patient for many years.
It was an incredible day to get to talk about the surgery and how we want to serve our local community. Professional relationships were forged, and patients had an opportunity to speak with team members they may not normally meet.
We want to say a huge thank you to Bethan and the comms team for putting everything together for us and making the day such a success. We are incredibly fortunate at Operose to the exec team support us and be with us on the day.
We look forward to more events now we are ‘officially’ open and welcoming more patients to meet with us.
